By yon bonnie banks is a moving story of love, loyalty and loss across cultures, told through dance, song and spoken word. When Astrid, a young Swedish woman, arrives in Scotland for an arranged marriage into the Erskine clan, she discovers belonging, joy and deep love in an unfamiliar land, as two cultures become intertwined.

The production blends ballet-based contemporary movement with an original score created by Sophie Moorea, inspired by the rich musical traditions of Sweden and Scotland. Scottish traditional elements, including a lively Waulking Song, are woven throughout the work, reflecting moments of community, celebration and connection. Together, these elements trace a journey shaped by family, faith and the upheaval of the Jacobite Rising.

Through moments of tenderness, celebration and heartbreak, audiences are invited into a shared human story about love, identity and resilience, exploring how heritage, place and loss shape who we become.
