Environmental Policy 2022-2024
Our Mission
Dance Horizons recognises that we have a responsibility to the environment far above and beyond legal and regulatory requirements. As an organisation, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and continually improving our environmental performance as an integral part of our business strategy and operating methods. We will encourage our customers, suppliers and other partner organisations to do the same.
Our Responsibility
Dance Horizons and its Directors are responsible for ensuring that this environmental policy is implemented. However, all employees and contractors have a responsibility in their area to ensure that the aims and objectives of the policy are met.
Our Policy Aims
Dance Horizons endeavours to:
Comply with and exceed all current, relevant regulatory requirements.
Continually improve and monitor environmental performance.
Continually improve and reduce environmental impacts of our work.
Incorporate environmental factors into business decisions.
Paper
We will minimise the use of paper in our administration and other unnecessary use.
We will seek to buy recycled and recyclable paper products for our work.
We will reuse and recycle all paper products where possible.
We will be pro-active in reducing our reliance on paper print materials as part of our marketing strategies.
We will work with relevant organisations to minimise our impact of paper use at festivals- including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Electrical Energy and Water
We will seek to reduce the amount of energy used as much as possible.
The energy consumption and efficiency of new products and equipment will be considered when purchasing.
We commit to work with venues to reduce energy and water waste.
Office and Event Supplies
We will evaluate if the need can be met in another way.
We will evaluate if renting/sharing is an option before purchasing equipment.
We will evaluate the environmental impact of any new products we intend to purchase.
We will favour more environmentally friendly and efficient products wherever possible.
We will reuse and recycle everything we are able to.
Culture
We will involve our team and external contractors in the implementation of this policy, for greater commitment and improved performance.
We will update this policy at least once annually in consultation with our team and other partners where necessary.
We will work with suppliers, contractors and sub-contractors to improve their environmental performance.
We will source local labour and materials where available to reduce CO2 and help our community.
Partnerships
Dance Horizons continues its commitment though advocacy for sustainable performance and theatre as an active member of the Staging Change Network and The Green Arts Initiative (Creative Carbon Scotland).
